Who pays, and who never will

How this site earns, what that does and does not change, and the specific category of company whose money we refuse — which is the part worth reading.

The arrangement

A handful of destinations here — website builders, and two consent management platforms — are reached through a /go/ address on this domain. Subscribe to one of them after arriving that way and the company pays the bench. Your price does not move by a penny.

Those links carry rel="sponsored nofollow", and the /go/ path is disallowed in this site's robots file, so nothing about the arrangement is concealed from search engines or from you.

What it does not change

No assessment on this site was written to suit a partner, and none has been altered after the fact to protect one. The method is published so that you can check our reasoning against it rather than taking a promise on trust.

Two structural details matter more than any promise. The platform that scores highest on the money page and the platform that scores lowest are both in exactly the same commercial position with us. And every fragile number on this site sits in a file in the repository with a source next to it, which is an awkward way to run a site you intend to fudge.

The refusal

Rampline does not and will not take money from any accessibility overlay vendor. That includes accessiBe, UserWay, EqualWeb, AudioEye and the rest of the category.

Several of these companies run affiliate programmes, and the search traffic that lands on our overlay page is exactly the traffic those programmes want. We are not in any of them.

This is not a pledge; it is a piece of configuration. The map of partner destinations in this site's code contains no overlay vendor, and the redirect handler can only resolve addresses in that map. There is no route by which an overlay link could appear on this site, including by mistake.

The reason is simple enough. That page says these products do not do what they are sold to do, and points at a regulator's order and a statement signed by more than a thousand practitioners to show it. An argument like that is worth exactly nothing coming from someone who gets paid when you ignore it.

Everything the redirect handler can reachRead from the site's partner map when it is built. If an overlay vendor were ever added, the build would stop.

Accessibility overlays

None. There is no address for one, so no page can link one.

What we also do not do

No sponsored posts. No paid placements in a ranking. No link insertions into existing articles. No "review" written from a press kit. No advertising.

And the standing caveat

Nothing on this site is legal advice, whether or not a partner link appears on the page. No platform linked from here can make your website compliant with anything, and no page on this site claims one can.

Questions about any of this go to [email protected], and we will answer them plainly.

The recheck notice

When a platform quietly changes what it gives you

Builders move accessibility features without a changelog: a theme restyles its focus ring, a wizard learns a check, a field migrates to another panel. The recheck list is meant to carry one short note whenever a page here has to be corrected. It is not switched on yet, so this form keeps nothing — until it is, the re-measured date at the foot of each page is the record.

For recheck notes only — for example, [email protected].
